How much does a wool yarn cost?
The cost of wool yarn depends on factors such as the quality of the fiber, the breed it is made from, the amount of yarn in the skein, and other factors such as how it is dyed and produced. The price can range from a few dollars per skein to $40 per skein.
What wool to buy?
For knitting beginners, I recommend blended wool or superwash yarns for needles sized 4-6. Make sure to buy your worsted yarn in a decent quality and be aware that lighter colors will make it easier to see the individual stitches.
What’s the thickest wool you can buy?
Super chunky Merino wool is our thickest size wool available. The yarn material thickness is approx. 4-5cm when unwound from the ball. 4.5 kg will equal around 200 meters of yarn with 25-micron high-quality Merino wool, made from the fleece of the Merino sheep.
